AFORD is a Sudanese independent and not-for-profit non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Uganda, Kampala, and registered in Uganda and Sudan according to Ugandan and Sudanese laws and regulations. AFORD is an individual membership organization that brings together intellectuals, human rights activists, and pro-democracy activists from all over Africa. The AFORD collaborates with a variety of grassroots activists and civil society partners active in the communities, countries, and regions of its priority intervention and work. AFORD shall explore ways to develop its work relationship with local civil society partners to ensure better cooperation, coordination and preparations for the implementation of its projects and programs.
The overall objective of AFORD is, on the one hand, to promote human rights, non-discrimination, and socio-economic development; on the other hand, it endeavors to support regional and international efforts to arrest armed conflicts through peaceful means and to address the needs of the most affected communities in the countries and regions of its priority intervention and work. AFORD’s role in attaining these overall objectives shall be inclined towards the prevention of human rights violations and crises in the regions of its operation, and it shall be realized through short-term and long-term strategies.
