African Organization for Rights and Development Hosts Youth Day Event for the Coordination of Sudanese Youth Forces

In celebration of International Youth Day on August 15th, the African Organization for Rights and Development hosted a dialogue event bringing together 60 young people and representatives from various programs of the Sudanese Youth Coordination for International Youth Day.

The open sessions addressed pressing issues facing young people, including their political participation, their role in peacebuilding, and gender issues within conflict.

Outcomes of the Dialogue Sessions:

* Youth Unity and Political Participation: Discussions focused on strengthening youth unity and their contribution to the political landscape, emphasizing security and military challenges as well as relationships with political parties.
* Geneva Forum – Challenges and Opportunities: Discussions centered on the role of young people in negotiations and peacebuilding, identifying challenges and obstacles to achieving peace.
* Gender Issues: The importance of protecting and empowering women amidst conflicts was discussed.

The African Organization for Rights and Development encourages continued dialogue on these topics and welcomes feedback and suggestions from young people on the issues raised.

On August 9, 2024, African organization for Rights Development (AFORD) organized a dialogue session attended by 20 participants at the organization’s headquarters in Kampala on gender-based violence and conflict in Sudan. Participants provided in-depth contextual analysis during the session, with advice for human rights assistance.

Saturday evening, July 20, 2024, Professor Khaled Kodi presented a valuable visual lecture. It dealt with fine art and culture as tools of resistance and steadfastness in the Kauda and Blue Nile regions (liberated areas). In his presentation, he addressed the values ​​of beauty and struggle across generations. It also dealt with local vocabulary and religious and social coexistence among the components of society.

He also touched on the issue of secularism in the liberated areas, the education system, legislation, and methods of survival.

Kodi, focused his lecture on the essence of the current and future relationship between the peoples at risk and the regimes in Sudan. The cultural, social and religious specificity of those areas remains a constant question about the future of Sudan’s unity or not.

Professor Khaled Kodi is a visual artist who teaches at Boston University College in the United States of America. He is active in the field of peacemaking in conflict areas using innovative methods inspired by the local environment.

In this lab, we aim to equip Sudanese youth residing in Uganda with the necessary skills to succeed in the local job market. We will be offering a diverse range of fantastic educational courses, including:

– Computer Literacy and Basic Technology Skills

– Exploring the World of Programming and Learning Popular Programming Languages like Python and JavaScript

– Acquiring Design and Editing Skills using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
